Industrial fire protection for the textile industry

Maximum protection. Minimal disruption. For fast, dust-intensive processes.

Textile production is one of the most fire-prone industries in the world.

High fibre dust exposure, combustible fibres, friction, overheated particles and long conveyor routes create ideal conditions for fires and explosions.

Without early spark detection, even small embers can develop into major damage in seconds – with consequences ranging from production downtime to total loss.

GreCon has been protecting textile processes for over 40 years – intelligently, automatically and without slowing down your production.

Since installing the spark extinguishing system, we have had incidents where the spark extinguishing system detected sparks and automatically extinguished them. This gives us confidence that investing in preventive fire protection was the right decision.Daniel Münzberg

A worrying trend that underlines the importance of fire prevention – extinguish fires before they spread!

The most effective method of minimising fire and explosion risks is to use powerful spark detection and extinguishing systems in combination with tailor-made fire protection concepts for machines and critical areas – developed and implemented by Fagus-GreCon.

The solution: GreCon PROTECTOR TEXTILE, our protection concept for the textile industry

Your advantage: early detection instead of major damage.

GreCon offers a solution that is precisely tailored to the needs of the textile industry – based on decades of experience and thousands of installed systems.

Our protection concept includes:

  • Detection of sparks and glowing particles in milliseconds
  • Immediate automatic diversion or finely metered low-pressure extinguishing – in 99% of cases without stopping the process.
  • Protection of critical machines such as carding, shredding, filters, silos
  • Complete event and cause analysis
  • Modular system design – from the entry-level segment to the fully networked PROTECTOR concept
  • Can be retrofitted in existing plants

The future of preventive fire protection in industry

For over 50 years, we have been developing tailor-made fire protection concepts for every individual challenge in industrial fire protection – reliable, practical and precisely tailored to your processes.

Put your trust in over 50 years of experience in more than 100 industries

Benefit from 75,000 individually tailored protection concepts and experience from over 200,000 protected production areas. With Fagus-GreCon, you can effectively protect your company from the devastating consequences of a fire.

Consequences of a fire – more than just damage

Typical consequences:

  • Danger to employees
  • Damage to machinery, filters and storage areas
  • Shutdown of entire production lines and delivery problems
  • Repair and replacement costs
  • Loss of raw materials and semi-finished goods
  • Rising insurance premiums

Fires in the textile industry are expensive – and often threaten the very existence of a business.

Hazards in textile production

The textile industry processes highly flammable natural and synthetic fibres. Overheated particles, friction, foreign objects and fine fibre dust can create ignition sources anywhere along the process chain. Machines and processes that combine heat, movement, pressure or dust generation are particularly critical.

Typical risk areas include:

  • Mixers – high friction and foreign objects lead to overheating
  • Mixing tables – material transitions and compaction generate sparks
  • Bale openers – mechanical stress and solid inclusions cause embers
  • Cleaners – metal parts and hard particles generate flying sparks
  • Rollers – frictional heat + dust deposits = high fire potential
  • Rotary filters – fine fibre dust promotes explosive atmospheres
  • Bag filters – dust concentration + embers → classic source of fire
  • Separators – material separation leads to particle friction
  • Shredders – impact and friction forces generate sparks and overheated particles
  • Presses – compression can ignite hidden embers
  • Storage areas – high fire load due to bales, rolls and dust deposits

These risk zones are interlinked and connected to each other via extraction and conveyor systems. A single spark can spread unhindered from machine to machine — with significant consequences for production, equipment and safety.

Reliable fire protection is therefore not an optional extra, but a central component of stable and safe textile production.

And this is exactly where Fagus-GreCon comes in.
