How close to the limit is your production?

Even the smallest exceedances of formaldehyde limits cost money, material and trust. The GASANALYSER systems detect critical emission values at an early stage – depending on the application as classical laboratory testing or in real time, directly in the process.

Two ways to ensure reliable emission control

Laboratory solutions:

GASANALYSER: Classical laboratory approach with wet‑chemical evaluation – proven, robust, but manual.
GASANALYSER SL: Extension of the GASANALYSER – replaces wet chemistry with automated laser measurement directly in the sample gas flow.
GASANALYSER DMC: A micro‑chamber method established in America for routine quality control of existing customers. Provides measurement results after 15 minutes using an electrochemical sensor.
GASANALYSER MC: Our latest rapid‑test system! Determines emissions in only 15 minutes using laser spectroscopy directly in a micro‑chamber – completely free of chemical reagents.

All laboratory solutions offer reliable and precise quality control – tailored to your testing requirements.

Inline monitoring:

GASANALYSER IL detects trends directly in the ongoing process – within seconds and without sampling. The system is mounted, for example, at the extraction unit and supplements laboratory analysis with continuous monitoring. This allows deviations to be detected early and processes adjusted immediately.

Operating Principle

All systems in the GASANALYSER family record the release of formaldehyde into the surrounding air – precisely, reliably and suitable for different areas of application. Depending on the model, the analysis takes place classically in the laboratory using wet‑chemical methods (GASANALYSER), by means of electrochemical detection (DMC) or through modern laser‑spectroscopic technologies (SL, MC, IL).

The laboratory systems provide test values that can subsequently be reliably transferred to reference‑chamber data in accordance with (for example) REACH requirements. This makes them a robust and practice‑proven solution for daily production control in the laboratory. The inline system, on the other hand, provides a real‑time view of the ongoing production process. This makes it possible to detect deviations or potential limit exceedances immediately and to adjust the process directly with regard to product emissions.

GASANALYSER – Proven laboratory testing according to ISO 12460‑3

Reliable. Robust. Recognised.
In its basic version, the GreCon GASANALYSER offers precise formaldehyde measurements based on the established gas analysis according to ISO 12460‑3 – including recognition by CARB and EPA TSCA VI.

The classic solution for laboratories
With the GASANALYSER, you rely on a robust laboratory device for standardised emission measurements based on classical wet chemistry. The test is carried out in two double chambers heated to 60 °C: the formaldehyde‑containing sample gas is passed for four hours into gas wash bottles filled with water, before chemical evaluation is performed in the laboratory using the acetylacetone method.

This makes the GASANALYSER a solid entry‑level solution, particularly for companies with a low sample volume that need reliable and standard‑compliant emission data.
A particularly practical feature: the GASANALYSER can be flexibly upgraded to the GASANALYSER SL with the SIMPLELAB laser analyser. This makes emission testing possible without manual analysis steps and completely without chemical reagents – precise, clean and efficient.

Advantages

  •  Long‑established European testing standard
  • Reliable results according to ISO 12460‑3:2023
  • Recognised by CARB, TSCA Title VI (EPA) and ideal for REACH‑compliant production control
  • Robust operation for use under simple laboratory conditions
  • Upgradeable to GASANALYSER SL for automated testing

GASANALYSER Simple Lab (SL) – Formaldehyde measurement made simple

Maximum precision in any environment

The GASANALYSER SL builds on the long‑proven GASANALYSER and continues to determine formaldehyde emissions in accordance with ISO 12460‑3:2023. However, instead of classical wet chemistry, the system uses advanced laser absorption measurement, which delivers precise and reproducible test results – completely without chemical reagents and without manual analytical steps.

Automated workflows ensure consistently high measurement quality and reliably eliminate individual influences from laboratory analysis. At the same time, the GASANALYSER SL meets the relevant CARB requirements and is ideal for in‑house production control in the REACH environment.

The laboratory solution without wet chemistry

Traditional formaldehyde measurements require complex, partly manual analytical steps – resulting in high time consumption and error potential. The GreCon GASANALYSER SL offers a modern, chemical‑free alternative that significantly reduces laboratory effort while ensuring maximum measurement accuracy.

The heart of the system is the automatic SIMPLELAB laser analyser, which determines the formaldehyde concentration directly in the sample gas stream. The method is based on the absorption of infrared laser light by formaldehyde – a process so fast that the concentration can be measured almost in real time. A wet‑chemical analysis is therefore no longer necessary.

The operation of the GASANALYSER SL is straightforward and possible under normal laboratory conditions. This combines modern measurement technology with high practical usability – ideal for companies that need efficient and precise emission analyses.

A practical advantage: the SIMPLELAB analyser can also be used as an upgrade for existing GASANALYSER models.

Advantages

  • Innovative measurement system for automated emission testing without chemicals
  • Reliable results according to ISO 12460‑3:2023
  • Recognised by CARB, TSCA Title VI (EPA) and ideal for REACH‑compliant production control
  • Saves time, chemical reagents and increases methodological safety
  • Easy operation – even without specialist personnel
  • Robust operation under simple laboratory conditions

GASANALYSER DMC - A Long‑Standing Standard in U.S. and Canadian Panel Testing

The GASANALYSER DMC has been a widely used and established solution for testing formaldehyde emissions for many years, particularly among wood‑based material manufacturers in the United States and Canada. The method is approved under TSCA VI by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and by CARB and is known for consistent and reliable results in routine quality control.

A key advantage of the system is its short measurement time: once the samples have been conditioned, the GASANALYSER DMC provides reliable results after around 15 minutes, allowing several tests to be carried out within a few hours. Formaldehyde determination takes place using an electrochemical sensor, enabling automated analysis at room temperature.

To ensure long‑term measurement accuracy, the DMC method requires daily calibration with a wet‑chemical reference method. In addition, tests must be carried out in a controlled laboratory environment – typically at around 25 °C and 50 % relative humidity.

Advantages

  •  Widely used method in North America for existing customers
  • Compliant with CARB and EPA TSCA Title VI requirements
  • Micro‑chamber test method with electrochemical cell
  • Short measurement time of 15 minutes and possible standard tests according to ASTM D‑6007‑14

GASANALYSER MC – Formaldehyde determination in only 15 minutes according to ISO 12460‑2:2025

GreCon GASANALYSER MC provides precise formaldehyde values – without wet chemistry, with maximum precision and speed. Recognised by CARB and ideal for laboratories.

The next generation of formaldehyde testing

The GASANALYSER MC is GreCon’s latest development for precise and efficient formaldehyde testing in the laboratory. Emission measurement takes place at room temperature in an electropolished micro‑emission test chamber, while the formaldehyde concentration is measured fully automatically in the chamber air.

An infrared laser analyser – as used in the GASANALYSER SL – combines high speed with excellent precision and works entirely without chemical reagents. Thanks to its high calibration stability, adjustments are rarely required. As manual analysis steps are eliminated, operator influence is reduced to a minimum – a complete emission test requires only 15 minutes per sample.

The system requires a temperature‑controlled laboratory environment for reproducible results. The humidity in the test chamber is automatically regulated, ensuring stable and comparable testing conditions.

The GASANALYSER MC complies with the latest revision of ISO 12460‑2:2025 and therefore meets the relevant CARB requirements. It is ideal for REACH‑compliant in‑house production control and offers a future‑proof solution for companies that value fast, precise and reliable formaldehyde measurements.

Your advantage at a glance

  • Latest measurement system for automated emission testing without chemicals
  • Reliable test results using the new ISO 12460‑2:2025 standard
  • Short test cycles: only 15 minutes per sample
  • Recognised by CARB and ideal for REACH‑compliant production control
  • Saves time and avoids chemical reagents – with increased methodological safety
  • Easy operation – even without specialist personnel
  • Optimised for use in climate‑controlled laboratories

Detailed product information

Like our GASANALYSER SL, the heart of the GASANALYSER MC is a state-of-the-art infrared laser analyser that enables emission tests to be carried out fully automatically and without the use of chemicals. The tests are performed at 25 °C (passively controlled by the ambient temperature) and 50 % humidity (actively controlled) in just 15 minutes per sample. At the same time, the device is very easy to operate via the touch panel.

A laser infrared analyser is used to measure the optical absorption of the formaldehyde released. The measuring principle is as follows:

  • A laser LED generates infrared laser light, which is directed through an optical cell.
  • The laser cell is flushed with the test gas from the test chamber.
  • Part of the light is extinguished by the formaldehyde in the test gas.
  • The detector recognises the proportion of light that is missing and can use this to calculate the exact amount of formaldehyde in the measurement gas.

  • Fast: Accurate test results in 15 minutes
  • Precise: Fewer errors thanks to laser technology
  • Cost-effective: No wet chemistry, no post-processing, minimal effort

GASANALYSER IL – Inline formaldehyde measurement directly in the process

Typically installed on the extraction system of a diagonal saw, the GASANALYSER IL monitors emissions directly on the production line.

Reliable measurement data during ongoing production

GASANALYSER IL detects fluctuations early and enables targeted adjustment – for stable quality and lower costs.

Inline measurement – the decisive advantage for your production

With the GASANALYSER IL, GreCon raises formaldehyde measurement to a new level. For the first time, manufacturers receive measurement data on formaldehyde emissions during ongoing production – providing a decisive advantage.

Instead of waiting for laboratory results, the IL provides continuous real‑time trend analyses from the process air at the extraction point, for example at the diagonal saw.

It measures continuously and detects peaks outside defined tolerance ranges. This allows fluctuations to be identified early and production processes to be adjusted before a faulty batch is produced. The trend data is generated automatically and is immediately available – for control, documentation and optimisation of pressing processes.

The GASANALYSER IL is the perfect complement to laboratory‑based devices in the GASANALYSER product family. While the GASANALYSER MC provides laboratory analyses with maximum precision, the GASANALYSER IL provides valuable time by enabling reaction in the ongoing process.

It integrates easily into existing process structures and sustainably strengthens emission control: for less scrap, higher efficiency and maximum process reliability.

Integrating the GASANALYSER IL into existing systems, such as extraction at the diagonal saw, enables continuous emission monitoring. Instead of isolated samples, a complete picture is created – continuously.

Manufacturers gain a powerful tool for process stabilisation, quality assurance and resource conservation.

The GASANALYSER IL complements laboratory solutions such as the GASANALYSER MC with a fast, inline‑capable component. While the MC provides highest measurement precision, the IL excels with reaction speed and continuous trend observation.

  • Real‑time detection: measures deviations directly in the process – long before laboratory values are available
  • Process control in the line: shows emission peaks and fluctuations continuously and reliably
  • Efficiency boost for your production: reduces material losses and scrap through early reaction to disturbances
  • Continuous trend analysis: permanently records changes – for better control and sustainable compliance
