Spark Detector GreCon DLD 1/9 & DLD 1/9 AS

For the best detection performance in any environment

Key benefits

  • Highly sensitive spark detection of sparks, embers and hot particles in processes up to 150°C
  • Detection not dependent on temperature of ignition source
  • Highly reliable Intelligent Detection Technology IDT® adapts to any environment
  • Flush-mounted installation of detector optics for maximum life
  • VdS approved, and also available with dust explosion protection certifications (ATEX and IECEx)

Functional description

The DLD 1/9 spark detector offers optimal detection performance for all ignition sources in any environment thanks to Intelligent Detection Technology (IDT®). Two versions are available depending on the application conditions:

  • The classic DLD 1/9 is ideal for areas without ambient light.
  • The DLD 1/9 AS is recommended for applications exposed to ambient light.

Both versions are highly sensitive spark detectors with numerous advantages. They reliably distinguish between dangerous sparks and harmless ambient light, preventing false alarms and enabling the detection of hot, non-glowing particles in high-temperature processes. Additionally, the sensitivity is adjustable, allowing precise adaptation to individual risk levels.

The DLD 1/9 can be used in pneumatic conveyor pipelines (including near inspection hatches), drop chutes, and mechanical conveyors. It connects to any GreCon spark detection control panel with a touchscreen display via a simple three-core cable. All GreCon control panels continuously monitor this connection for faults and automatically check the detector’s functionality at programmable intervals.

Air purge adapter
If dirt accumulation or other build-up on the sensor optics is expected, special air purge adapters increase the detection reliability. Cleaning intervals are thus extended.

Frequently asked questions about the GreCon SCOUT DLD 1/9 spark detector

Would you like to find out more about the application, operation and benefits of the GreCon spark detector DLD 1/9 & DLD 1/9 AS? In our FAQs, you will find concise answers to common questions regarding the reliable detection of sparks, smouldering hot spots and hot particles in a wide variety of environments.

The GreCon DLD 1/9 and DLD 1/9 AS are highly sensitive spark detectors designed to detect sparks, smouldering hot spots and hot particles. They are suitable for a wide variety of environments and reliably detect ignition sources even under demanding conditions.

The detector detects sparks, smouldering hot spots and hot particles. It can also reliably detect hot, non-smouldering particles in high-temperature processes.

The spark detectors utilise IDT® intelligent detection technology. This enables them to reliably distinguish between hazardous ignition sources and harmless ambient light. This improves detection reliability and helps to prevent false alarms.

IDT® intelligent detection technology improves detection reliability in the presence of temporary external light sources. If the analysis technology detects that a signal is coming from an external light source, the detector temporarily disables detection of visible radiation. As soon as the disturbance ceases, the system automatically reactivates this detection. This ensures that the spark detector remains reliable even in environments with changing light conditions and reduces the risk of false alarms.

Yes. The sensors are designed for use in applications with or without ambient light.

Typical applications include pneumatic conveying systems, as well as areas adjacent to inspection hatches, drop chutes and mechanical conveyors. The detector is therefore suitable for many applications where ignition sources need to be detected at an early stage.

Yes. The spark detector detects hot, non-smouldering particles even in high-temperature processes. Detection takes place regardless of the temperature of the ignition source.

Yes. The spark detector is VdS-approved. Variants with dust explosion protection approvals, such as ATEX and IECEx, are also available.
